Happy Holidays! It's been a while... where to start? Chad Vader Season 4 will be underway soon - the Kickstarter campaign to raise funding for it was successful, so filming will most likely begin early in the new year.
I've been working on more comedy videos with Blame Society Productions this past year, all of which can be viewed at BlameSociety.net. For the past few months I've been writing songs for a new recording which I hope will be ready sometime in 2012. Also considering a tribute recording of sorts with my friend/collaborator Jeremy Ylvisaker. We're playing with a few different ideas as far as to whom to pay homage - nailing down a decision will be a challenge. It may be come down to a coin toss in the end...
It's getting to be that lovely time of year - and since two of our CDs are Christmas CDs, I'm doing a "buy 1, get something free" offer again. This year, it's a "buy 1, get 1 free, and I'll also gift wrap them if you like" deal. You'd need to order directly through Maypole on my Music page to take advantage of that. Amazon, CD Baby, etc ship the CDs from their own distribution centers, so I can only wrap them and include the other free things if you order from Maypole.
Also, I have a Facebook music page now, which can be found at: www.facebook.com/pages/Courtney-Collins-music-page/148031265223743
Come and say hi, why don't you?
Merry, merry Christmas!

Happy Yuletide! Don't like wrapping gifts? How about free gift wrapping on any CDs that your order via the Maypole/Paypal link on the "Music" page (that way I can wrap them for you myself). Please indicate in the "comments" section that you'd like them wrapped, and I'll be most happy to do so! There's also a "buy 2, get 1 free" special for the season, via the Maypole/Paypal link - just indicate which CD you'd like for free in the "comments" section.
I was interviewed a few weeks ago, in regards to some casting I did for the latest season of Chad Vader. Check out the article "Son of Cheap Trick's Robin Zander finds online fame" here. Speaking of Chad Vader, the DVD of Season 3 is now available and can be found at BlameSociety.net.
October brought some very sad news. My friend Micheal Larsen, also known as Eyedea, died in his sleep on October 16. Mikey recorded our "Welcome To Christmastown" album - I was honored to spend a summer making music with him, Jeremy, Mike, and J.T. The world has lost a kind hearted, funny, intelligent, and amazingly talented man. He will terribly missed...
On a lighter note, I wish you a snowy, happy winter! Happy Holidays!

Summer greetings! A few updates... Several months ago, I was interviewed for an English class in the Czech Republic. A professor found my music and used it on his website as a teaching tool for his students. Check out the interview here.
Our Christmas CD, Welcome To Christmastown, received an amazing review by Rick Tvedt of Local Sounds Magazine. I think Rick really nailed it, as far as what we were trying to achieve with the album.
I was honored that multi-media artist Jeanne Wilkinson recently made a video for my cover of "La Isla Bonita" from the Violet Night CD. Jeanne used her "Painted People" and ocean imagery that she filmed to tell the story. I have much of her Painted People artwork on display in my home - I'm a huge fan of her art. Visit www.jeannewilkinson.com for more of her lovely work. Here's the video.
We're halfway into Chad Vader season 3. In the newest episode, I got to do some vocals. Very subtle, so you have to listen closely...
I'll be attending Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia as part of the Blame Society Productions team. We'll have a table and "Chad" will be making several appearances at the convention. Stop by and say hi!

Christmastime already? Merry Christmas! If you happen to be at Barnes and Noble, Borders, or various other bookstores or music stores any time soon, check out the latest issue of The Big Takeover (issue #65, with Sonic Youth on the cover). They gave our Welcome To Christmastown CD a really good review. See the "Music" page on this site for ordering information - and if you order directly from Maypole Records and would like it gift wrapped, just indicate that in the comments section!
The CDs are also available at the following fine stores in Madison: Shakti, Savoir Faire, Little Luxuries, Orange Tree Imports, B-Side, Exclusive Company, and Mad City Music Exchange.
Chad Vader Season 2 has come to a close. The DVD is now available at Blame Society and features all the episodes, behind the scenes footage, and many extras. My favorite might be a mini documentary on Baby Cookie, in which I get to talk about the storied past of my now semi-famous baby doll...
Happy Yuletide!

Happy Summer! Spring was very busy... I did a public service announcement for national radio. The PSA is for the Collaborative Summer Library Program, and I read a poem with my friend Benson Gardner. It's now airing nationally, and can also be heard here.
More information is available on their website. Chad Vader season 2 is in full swing, and the first few episodes can be viewed at: http://youtube.com/blamesocietyfilms.
I've started a Twitter page - I haven't been too diligent about updating it, though. We'll see what happens. But here I am, at least very minimally: http://twitter.com/Ms_Courtney_C And I'm having a little end of summer sale on CDs - cleaning up inventory and getting some of the discs ready for digital downloading. You can find the physical CDs at cdbaby.com.
That's all for now!

Happy, happy Christmas! We're so thankful to everyone who's taken the time to listen to our Welcome To Christmastown CD, pick up a copy of it, give it as a gift, or write nice reviews of it! Here are some links to what reviewers are saying:
Many thanks to Blame Society Productions for making our video!
Happy, happy Christmas!

Merry Christmas! A little early maybe, but I do have some Christmas-related news. My friends and I have just released a new CD - it's called Welcome To Christmastown by Courtney Collins and Jeremy Ylvisaker with J.T. Bates and Michael Lewis. We spent many weeks this Summer and Fall whipping up what would best be described as a dreamy, sometimes melancholy/sometimes cheery, wintery holiday disc. Jeremy recorded most of my earlier CDs and we've been friends for years - last Christmas we decided to make a CD in time for this Christmas. Jeremy plays guitar with Andrew Bird and Carbon Carousel, and Jeremy, J.T., and Mike are also in a great band together called Alpha Consumer. J.T. and Mike play in the jazz trio Fat Kid Wednesdays - JT also drums for A Prairie Home Companion and Mike is a multi-instrumentalist and plays in Happy Apple and with Dosh. A lot to keep track of, yes? They're all amazingly talented and it was a fun summer spent making music with these guys.
You can hear samples from Welcome to Christmastown at Amazon, CD Baby, and on my MySpace page. The CD is for sale at those websites, and also available at record stores listed on the "Music" page of this site.
Snowy, happy wishes to you - more news soon...
